What's in My Gym Bag? Must-Have Essentials for Every Workout

When it comes to fitness, preparation is key! Whether you're hitting the gym, heading to a yoga class, or squeezing in a quick HIIT session, having a well-stocked gym bag can make all the difference. As someone who lives and breathes health, wellness, and movement, I always keep my gym bag packed with essentials that fuel my performance, recovery, and overall well-being.
What's in My Gym Bag? Must-Have Essentials for Every Workout
1. A Reliable Gym Bag
Before we get into the contents, let’s talk about the bag itself. A durable, lightweight, and stylish gym bag with multiple compartments is a must to keep everything organized and easily accessible. With side pockets and plenty of middle story for all my gear and a change (or two) of clothes, I’m a fan of the Originals Canvas Duffle Bag from adidas, or a backpack to grab and run.
2. Workout Clothes & Running Shoes
Comfortable, sweat-wicking workout gear is essential. I always have packed run shoes and shorts, a pair of yoga crops, extra sports bra and tank in the bag. Some days I have planned a yoga class and LA traffic simply doesn’t want to follow that plan. Back-up option, I can still go to the gym but hit the treadmill ad some weights instead.
3. Water Bottle
Staying hydrated is non-negotiable. I carry a reusable water bottle (preferably insulated) to keep my water cold and refreshing throughout my workout. I aim to refill it at least twice while at the gym, getting some extra hydration in.

4. Post-Workout Snacks
Fueling my body properly is crucial. Three of my favorite workout snacks to have are: GoMarco bars (vegan and clean), fresh fruits (cleaned and packed grapes, apples, blueberries) and a single serving pack of Vega protein powder.
5. Wireless Headphones
A pair of good-quality wireless headphones keeps me in the zone without any distractions. Airpods are my go-to, ensuring they’re fully charged prior to the gym.
6. Electrolytes
This is a newer “must-have” for me; however, I’m now hooked! Having electrolyte tablets to pop into my water bottle before a workout not only encourage my energy levels, it also adds a fun taste to my water, creating a tasteful change of pace!
7. Workout Playlist
Music is a game-changer when it comes to motivation. I have a few playlists ready to go, depending on the day’s mood or workout motivation. In addition, I’ll have motivational interviews saved from YouTube that fuel my mind for the day ahead. These are ideal to listen to when foam rolling or lifting weights.

8. Personal Care Items
Some days I shower at the gym and some days it’s a workout and go. Either way, having deodorant, wet hairbrush, face mist, lip moisturizer,
9. Flip Flops
Ever get out of the shower and you have nothing else but your sneakers to grab? Never get stuck again with tippy toes on a wet and/or shared gym floor.
10. Change of Clothes
For the gym and after, having an extra set of clothes to change into makes the transition more seamless to get a workout in any time of the day. If I’m prepared, there are NO excuses!
